Omo Child - Computers for Remote Schools

About this Project

In Southern Ethiopia an ancient practice, "Mingi" is practied. It is the ritualistic killing of infants and childred believed to be cursed by tribes living in the remote Omo Valley region of Southwest Ethiopia. Omo Child's mission is to provide a safe, nurturing home and quality education for our rescued Mingi children. Our hope is that these children will become future leaders and change-makers in their tribes and communities. We also raise awareness about the practice of Mingi and work to see it eliminated.

Education is key in this battle and we have started high quality schools both in Omo Valley itself and in the nearby hub of Jinka. Through education we are changing the hearts and minds of the upcoming generations and believe this is the path to end Mingi killings.

Our Omo Child School needs 30 desktop and 30 laptop computers for the students and teachers to provide the educational efficiency. As the world progresses, our children are being left behind due to their lack of access to computer training and technological training. The computers for our school will empower our schools to bring advanced education opportunities for our students.
